Dess-Martin periodinane (DMP), also known as 1,1-dihydro-1,1,1-triacetoxy-1,2-benziodoxol-3-(1H)-one, is one of the most popular hypervalent iodine reagent used as an oxidizing agent. Compared with other oxidizing reagents, DM periodinane offers numerous advantages, such as good solubility in common organic solvents, excellent chemoselectivity and tolerance to sensitive functions. Oxidations with DM periodinane are performed at room temperature under non-anhydrous conditions, associated with easy workup. In this new AtlanChim Pharma webinar, we will illustrate various applications of DMP, not only for alcohol oxidation but also for other transformations, through recent examples from medicinal chemistry and total synthesis of natural products.

As usual, I will be happy to present this work to you and answer all your questions! We therefore give you an appointment on Tuesday, June 11 at 3.00 p.m.

Scientific Director, AtlanChim Pharma

His current research activity concerns the synthesis of biologically active molecules, natural or not, in the fields of cancer, viral pathologies and neurodegenerative diseases, through academic and industrial collaborations. He is also strongly involved in the understanding of biological mechanisms through the synthesis of molecules selectively labeled by non-radioactive isotopes.

Member of the scientific committee of the European Journal of Organic Chemistry (2004-14), Current Organic Synthesis (2004-2018) and Molecules, Medicinal Chemistry Section (2020- ).

Member of the National Scientific Research Committee (CNRS – section 12) (2012-2016 and 2017-2022) and member of HCERES (Haut Conseil de l’évaluation de la recherche et de l’enseignement supérieur – ST4) (2022-2026).

Founding partner of the CRO AtlanchimPharma (custom fine chemistry and synthesis of stable isotope labeled molecules) and consultant (since 2004). Professor at the University of Nantes (CEISAM, UMR-CNRS 6513 – Symbiosis group (Multi-step synthesis and bioscience)) Co-author of about 190 publications (h-index 36) and 18 patents (including two with exploitation license and one know-how license), and more than 120 seminars and conferences.
